Introduction

The Phi Phi Islands  are an island group in Thailand, between the large island of Phuket and the west Strait of Malacca coast of the mainland. The islands are administratively part of Krabi provinceKo Phi Phi Don (“ko” (Thaiเกาะ) meaning “island” in the Thai language) is the largest island of the group, and is the most populated island of the group, although the beaches of the second largest island, Ko Phi Phi Lee (or “Ko Phi Phi Leh”), are visited by many people as well. The rest of the islands in the group, including Bida Nok, Bida Noi, and Bamboo Island (Ko Mai Phai), are not much more than large limestone rocks jutting out of the sea. The Islands are reachable by speedboats or Long-tail boats most often from Krabi Town or from various piers in Phuket Province.

Food

On Nusa Lembogan, there is a range of healthy restaurants to choose from. Some of our favorites are the fresh-baked banana bread and fruit smoothies from Eco-Deli; the vegetarian breakfast wraps and samosas from Tiger Lily; the falafel wrap and acai bowl from Ginger & Jamu; and the Quattro Formaggio pasta from Lemongrass.

If you love coffee, Eco-Deli and Ginger & Jamu serve specialty coffee such as lattes and cappuccino. Price is between USD 5-10. If you like local Balinese food, there are many Warungs where you can find nasi goreng and gado gado.

Price is usually a little cheaper, ranging USD 3-5 per dish.

Travel Directions

To get to Phi Phi, there are basically two options: ferries and speedboats. The ferry is by far the most popular method of reaching the islands. Ferries take about two hours from Phuket and 90 minutes from Krabi or Koh Lanta. The main departure/arrival port in Phuket is Rassada Pier, located in Phuket Town.

Return ticket price: 40$
