What Is Enlightenment?

As many people as many opinions on question: “What is Enlightenment?”

Wikipedia gives me explanation of word “Enlightenment”— is the “full comprehension of a situation”.

So regardless if you live in Bali, Thailand, Costa Rica or Hawaii, London, Greece, New ZealandSydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth,  this explanation makes me ask even more questions: how will I know that it is full understanding or not full? And how will I know if it’s right understanding?

Personally I started thinking about this when I took my first yoga teacher training (ytt) and for me enlightenment is like truth — depends from what corner you’re looking on it.

I see enlightenment like “in” and “lightening” like something what starts light. I was

asking my friends what starts light in them. Answers were: places, people, work,

movies, books, art, ideas. I think all of it make sense.

What gives light to me?

I think it’s a wish to find my purpose and feel fulfilleness. Who doesn’t want it? I didn’t meet single person who would said to me: “I don’t want to live full life and feel good about what I am doing.

I don’t want to find that perfect spot where I will be most effective

and can bring the biggest good for people”, but I know many people who are not sure

what they want to do in their lives, or even if they do know they are not sure if it

worth the effort, or is it right way to choose. I guess no one knows for sure. Or maybe someone does?

Opinion?

In my opinion if question exists so an answer on it exists as well. Like

lock has key, day has night and body has soul. So where will we look for the answers?

I think if I am looking for answers on MY questions I should look INSIDE MYSELF. Because  who else if not me knows what I want to achieve, what is my purpose and what is my Inspiration.

On another hand if we are already so powerful and already have all the answers why

so many people don’t feel enlightened? When I was small and we moved to the new

place it was hard to make new friends.

My father told me : “Katya, you’re doing the same things every day and you can see now it doesn’t work. Why do you expect different result if you are repeating old actions and methods”. I guess it was my first Enlightenment.

In the end?

Sometimes you need to ask yourself questions so many times for enlightenment—

because you don’t hear the answer, and sometimes you get answers immediately.

For everything right time and right place. As often we can hear saying: “When the student is ready the teacher will be found”. So decision is up to us — we have to decide when we want to have new enlightenment and what we are ready to do for it — use new methods, ask new questions, do new practice or even breath differently.

Asking new questions I came to yoga. And there I learn new breathing, new practice,

new questions. Now I guess I have to find a courage to hear the answers.

Life is amazing and enlightening by itself but it always has potential for expanding. It depends on us how much we are ready to take.
